mASCot is a grassroots organisation providing support to autistic children and their families.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
Here at mASCot, we run activity groups for autistic children and teenagers. Our groups are autism-affirming and we strive to create an environment where autistic children and young people are celebrated.
Our groups are thriving and we need volunteers. The role is a mix of hands-on play work and supporting the group leader in setting up.and clearing away. The groups meet after school on Tuesdays (under 11s) and Thursdays (11 years and above).
This is an excellent opportunity to gain work experience, and to develop knowledge about neurodiversity.
We particularly welcome neurodivergent applicants.
What induction, training and support is offered?
Our groups are run by experienced, qualified workers. We will can offer informal visits, before making any commitment.
Induction is through observation for the first few sessions.
Support is offered through regular supervision meetings.
What skills or qualities are needed?
No experience is needed.
Ideally, our volunteers should be calm and adaptable.
