About this service

The Mentoring project (funded by HMPPS CFO3 and ESF) is currently delivering in the Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire Community and Custody. Our service is designed to provide support to people released from prison through mentoring to encourage full integration and to promote social inclusion. The project provides 1 to 1 support to prisoners in order to access support from other organisations, hence raising awareness around the specific needs of women and their families.
What you will be doing

•Supporting and accompanying people released from prison to appointments and meetings
•To acknowledge positive qualities and skills
•Researching and developing links with local services
•Meeting with prisoners in custody before release from prison
•Working to meet the needs identified between the offender and their Offender Manager
•Completing exit surveys/interviews
•Completing a 2 day Foundation training course
•Recording information including behaviour, compliance and engagement

Our mission is to support prisoners and their families to make a fresh start, and to minimise the harm that can be caused by imprisonment on people who have committed offences, on families and on communities.

This post is subject to an initial interview, 2 day training, 2nd Interview, DBS checks and satisfactory references.

Time management
To be able to type up clear and concise case notes
Confidence to communicate with potentially difficult service users
