Brighton and Hove Volunteer SearchDetails of Opportunity

Gallery Front of House Fundraising Volunteer with Fabrica

Regency

About this volunteering opportunity

Fabrica is looking to recruit volunteers to support our fundraising efforts Front of House. This is a really exciting specialist role within our Front of House volunteer team, offering skills development in a key area of work in the charitable sector and within arts management . Equally, the role draws upon and develops transferable skills in marketing and communications, customer service and sales.

Our FOH Fundraisers work within the rest of the FOH team in the Gallery, welcoming the public and introducing them to our work. They are specifically focused on communicating our charitable aims, engaging in conversations about our fundraising efforts, encouraging donations and membership subscriptions sign ups. Beyond the gallery, FOH Fundraisers are invited to contribute their first hand experience and expertise to develop our Fundraising Communications and each exhibition’s individual Fundraising Plan.

The role has a flexible weekend work pattern - we would ask you to work for a shift a week on a Saturday or Sunday during exhibition (three times a year) from 2pm till 5pm when the Gallery is open for exhibitions. We require all FOH volunteers to work a minimum of one shift per week during exhibition time.

About this organisation

Fabrica is a visual arts organisation and educational charity based in a former Regency church in the heart of Brighton, which commissions contemporary site responsive visual art installations.

A key aspect of Fabrica’s work takes place beyond the gallery, working in the community to improve well-being and encourage creative learning through the arts for those facing barriers due to health, age, income and circumstances.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

In house training is available to volunteers which covers practical examples of fundraising communications, an introduction to the legal requirements surrounding collecting donations directly from the public (covering Data Protection, Fundraising Communications and Payment Card Industry Standards) and to the wider role of individual giving within the management of an arts organisation. Volunteers can also choose to partake in a variety of engagement and development opportunities within the role.
This position also offers further training and development opportunities within Fabrica, and welcomes you to all the opportunities, activities and engagement offered to the rest of our volunteer team; such as paid-for art trips, outings and social events such as our volunteers Christmas Party, film screenings and workshops.

Skills or experience needed for this opportunity

Interest in working within an arts organisation or for the not-for-profit sector are qualities we are looking for, although this position is open to everyone, as training is given.
Experience in fundraising, sales or working with the general public in a customer-facing role is preferable.
