Brighton and Hove Volunteer SearchDetails of Opportunity

School Governors with Brighton & Hove City Council

All Areas

About this volunteering opportunity

School governors form one of the largest volunteer groups in the country. Governing bodies are looking for people who can work strategically with senior leaders, as well as providing support and challenge. Governors attend meetings and carry out school visits in order to monitor educational standards, help set the vision for the school and approve the school budget.

If you have time to commit (around half a day per fortnight during term time), this can be a very rewarding voluntary role.

About this organisation

The Governor Support Team in the council helps schools to recruit governors. In Brighton & Hove there are over 800 governor positions across 70 schools. The team provides training and day to day support for governors and clerks.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

The Governor Support Team provides phone and email advice for governors and clerks, as well as an online resource bank of guidance documents.
