Befriending volunteer with East Sussex Association of Blind and Partially Sighted People

About this volunteering opportunity

We are looking for a volunteer to accompany a Blind Portslade gentleman to the shops once a week. Because of his sight loss he finds getting out and about difficult and needs someone to help by guiding him to the local shop. Shopping is difficult for him and he needs help identifying items, weights and prices. The volunteer will not be expected to carry heavy bags. Full guide training will be given to volunteer.

ESAB is the local society that provides advice, information, and support to local sight impaired people. We offer training courses to develop skills and increase confidence, Social activities, aids and equipment service and a home visiting service in the Brighton & Hove area

Skills or experience needed for this opportunity


Minimum age 18, good communication skills, reliable, flexible and friendly disposition
