HealthLink Volunteer with Volunteering Matters - LifeLines

Queens Park

About this volunteering opportunity

Volunteering Matters' HealthLink scheme enables older people who are isolated or whose friends and family can't provide support to access healthcare appointments.

HealthLink volunteers accompany older people to GP surgeries, hospital appointments, dentists, health screenings and other important health visits. Volunteers provide company throughout the entire visit, ensuring the person returns home safely. If required volunteers go into the appointment and take notes to help the scheme member remember the details later on.

HealthLink isn't a transport scheme but getting to appointments can be much less stressful with the company and support of a HealthLink volunteer. HealthLink helps older people to manage their healthcare and reduce cancelled and missed health appointments.

Providing support as and when people need help getting to appointments means this is a flexible volunteering opportunity. You won't need to be available every week so it's a great volunteering opportunity if you want to help support older people but would find it hard to commit to a particular time and day every week.
