Befriender/Detox coach with Keys Community Detox

All Areas

About this volunteering opportunity

An essential qualification for this role is a passion to see people released from addiction. Keys Community Detox supports people who are already on or are open to a spiritual route to recovery. In particular Christian prayer and Bible readings are used, so a Detox coach or Befriender would need to be both a Christian as well as a committed member of a local church.

Detox Coach -
A prospective detox coach should realistically be able to give significant blocks of time as fairly intensive support is offered to individuals undergoing detox. This means being able to set aside at least a couple of hours for most days during the one to two week detox period.
This is a commitment that many people, especially those in full time employment, will not be able to make. There is, however, no set requirement as to how many detoxes a coach will support perhaps two per year will be a general expectation.

Befriender -
For those who may not have the time to be involved as a Detox Coach becoming a Befriender is also a very valuable way of supporting this work. A Befriender is someone who can support our clients in preparation for a detox or on their recovery journey by simply meeting up with the client to offer support and encouragement.
