Foundation governor with St Mark's CE Primary School

About this volunteering opportunity

We are looking for two foundation governors to join our strong and active governing body. Governors work with the headteacher and senior leadership team in the strategic development of the school and in raising standards of achievement.

We meet 9 times a year at the school, always on Tuesdays at 5.30pm. Meetings last 2 hours. Governors are also invited to attend school events and may be invited to support the school by attending other meetings during the year.

About this organisation

St Mark's is a small primary school with seven classes catering for children aged 4 to 11.

It is an ambitious school, serving an area of significant deprivation and social disadvantage.  We have recently been judged to be a GOOD school by OFSTED, and we are seeking motivated governors to join us on the next step of our development.

We believe that all children have the capacity to learn – it is our job to ensure every child in our school has the best possible education opportunities.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

The school provides induction to all new governors. Brighton and Hove Council and the Diocese of Chichester provide a governor induction programme and regular training opportunities. Support is also available from the clerk, Governor Services and the Chair of Governors.
