Conference Volunteer for IBAC 2019 with UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX


About this volunteering opportunity

• Welcoming attendees and distributing registration materials.

• Directing guests to workshop locations, staffing Info Table, collecting and stacking cardboard; placing and retrieving signage.

• Handing out information and answering questions about the conference including: conference schedule, facilities on campus, room locations, and other items that you believe will contribute to an overall positive conference experience including information about the conference for first-time attendees.

• Checking in and assisting exhibitors and encouraging participants to visit the Hall.

• Giving directions to conference attendees at posts throughout the conference facility.

• Assisting with conference sessions e.g. making microphones available for Q&A sessions after the talks.

• Ensuring only attendees access the sessions.

About this organisation

On-site Volunteers are needed for The XXVII International Bioacoustics Congress will be held at the University of Sussex, Brighton, England from Saturday 31st August to Thursday 5th September 2019 (IBAC 2019) (

The Conference is organised by the Voice Lab in the School of Psychology, University of Sussex, led by Prof David Reby.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

Skills or experience needed for this opportunity

You must be friendly, helpful, outgoing and able to work in a team. Previous experience in event management is preferred, but not essential.

This opportunity would be ideally suited for someone interested in bioacoustics and/or in gaining experience of academic conferences.
