About this volunteering opportunity

People who walk or ride paths regularly around the Brighton & Hove area are invited to 'adopt' a path(s) to help us look after them. This involves carrying out a survey of the path four times a year (once each season). A small toolkit is provided if volunteers would like to get involved in doing some light clearance work; especially around signs, gates and stiles.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

Induction / training meeting to go through the survey form, health and safety and the toolkit,
On-going support from the Rights of Way Officer - help and advice with any rights of way questions,
Cover under our insurance while carrying out the role,
A Path Warden ID card to show authorization for tasks carried out,
Loan of gloves and tools.

Skills or experience needed for this opportunity

Regular use (walking or riding) the path(s) being adopted,
Willingness to carry out the survey once during spring, summer, autumn and winter,
Some paths are more accessible than others. Depending on which path is adopted, this opportunity can be suitable for people with mobility issues.
