About this volunteering opportunity

Each morning. 5-6 volunteers daily help to prep food, serve meals and wash up afterwards. Our kitchen is run to high standards so all volunteers gain valuable practical experience of working in a kitchen. We work as a team with the aim of providing good quality, nutritious food in an organised but relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our volunteers generally work one morning a week for four hours.

About this organisation

St Anne's has been operating for over 30 years to support the street homeless and isolated in Brighton and Hove. We serve two meals each weekday morning to between 50 and 70 people. We signpost to other organisations if that is what people want and generally offer a safe space for people to physically and emotionally recharge themselves.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

Each volunteer has an induction with the Centre Manager covering food hygiene and safeguarding before they start to work in the Centre. Our kitchen currently has a five rating for food hygiene and we work to a high standard in the kitchen to sustain this because many of our clients are physically vulnerable. Volunteers work as part of a close team with the Catering Manager and the Centre Manager. Volunteers are never on their own with clients.
