About this volunteering opportunity

As a volunteer you will be supporting service users to comply and engage with their order / license requirements. You will also help them to gain skills to ensure their lives improve and to prevent reoffending.

• helping service users into work • giving advice and guidance • helping service users access specialist services to overcome their personal barriers and to encourage positive progression (such as housing, employment and benefits services) • providing targeted support and information • helping service users to develop their literacy and numeracy skills • befriending and socialising.

About this organisation

We deliver a range of rehabilitation services to people who have been sentenced by a court to either custody or community supervision and who are classed as low to medium risk.

Our goal is to reduce reoffending and in doing so, we improve people’s lives - potential victims as well as the perpetrators of crime. We do this specifically by steering people away from offending.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

If you become a volunteer at KSS CRC you will receive:

• full role specific training • travel and subsistence expenses • further development and training opportunities • regular one-to-one and peer support • supervision from your Volunteer Coordinator • opportunities to attend frequent meetings, social events and recruitment fairs.

Skills or experience needed for this opportunity

Volunteers need the following skills:

• have a belief that people can change • be non-judgmental and non-discriminatory • act as a good role model • establish relationships with service users and others • understand the importance of, and maintain confidentiality.
