About this volunteering opportunity

Supported Lodgings Brighton and Hove is seeking volunteers for a piece of promotional work to help them raise the profile of the project within different communities in Brighton and Hove. Communities identified include the BME communities and LGBTQ communities to ensure diversity in lodgings host recruitment while raising the profile of the service in Sussex.

Tasks: Look at innovative ways of promoting the service throughout communities in Brighton and Hove with special attention to BME and LGBTQ communities to ensure diversity in lodgings host recruitment.Promoting the service via different mediums such as print and social media while exploring new and creative ways of promoting the service throughout Sussex, including meeting with community groups and other organisations. Distributing the project's new print material to chosen locations and outlets across Brighton and Hove . Contribute to the strategic plan of host recruitment.

 

About this organisation

Brighton & Hove Supported Lodgings works with local people to support young people aged 16-21 who are homeless, leaving care, unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers. Each young person is paired with a suitable host who provides lodgings and support in their own home.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

An induction will be provided at the beginning of the volunteer's time with us, and will include health and safety, policies and procedures and of course the nature of the role. After that the project worker will be in regular contact with the volunteers to support the role and monitor the profess. On-going training will be available to fit in with the role and nature of the project.

Skills or experience needed for this opportunity

This volunteering role is both office based and within the wider community; meeting new contacts and delivering promotional material. Skills and previous experience in the following are:

Essential:

Computer Skills - inc. internet, email and social media

Writing skills

Communication skills in engaging with community agencies and representatives

Desirable:

Promoting a service through different mediums

Distributing promotional material

Local knowledge of services, agencies and geography of Brighton and Hove
