About this volunteering opportunity

Overall

  • Assist with the process of setting up financial systems for a new start-up charity.
  • Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
  • Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
  • Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
  • Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.

 

About this organisation

Space Mates is a new start up charity aimed at helping advocate and adding to marginalised peoples voices and community/personal development. We have a number of different projects including; an advocacy and signposting project, a documentary and research project on homelessness, Rough guide to sleeping rough. We aim to add further projects in the future and intend on setting up a community centre focused on being an open space for personal and community development.

Induction, training and support offered with this opportunity

Full induction and training. However this role requirements does include knowledge on managing money in a charity organisation so no training will be given here. If there are any specific training rtequirements then this will be provided.

Skills or experience needed for this opportunity

Qualities

  • Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
  • Knowledge of book keeping and financial management (as necessary).
  • Good financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Desire to help those in need.
