Homeless soup kitchen volunteer at Sacred Heart Church

Support homeless people by providing food and coffee on the seafront in the evenings, 5 days a week.

What does the opportunity involve doing?

The soup kitchen is run on Hove seafront, near to the Angel statue. Two volunteers are present to distribute food and coffee to homeless people that attend daily. One volunteer is responsible for making coffee (in Summer) and also soup (in winter). The other volunteer is responsible for making sandwiches, including shopping for supplies. Funds are available to cover the cost of ingredients.

What induction, training and support is offered?

The volunteer will join the volunteer leader and another volunteer for an induction session where all rules and procedures are explained.

What skills or qualities are needed?

No specific skills. An ability to make sandwiches or soup is all that is required, plus a general wiliness to support homeless people.
