Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove, is an independent local charity working in the community to help older people, their families and their carers. Our vision is to inspire and enable people in West Sussex, Brighton & Hove to Love Later Life. To do this, we provide an array of services and activities that meet the needs and interests of the communities we support, providing opportunities for people to get out, have fun, socialise and build friendships.

Service Coordinator

Chichester – 18 hours

Crawley – 20 hours

Mid Sussex – 37 hours

Salary of £21,500 FTE per annum

We are currently looking for three Service Co-ordinators to join our dedicated team and provide an exceptional service to older people in their local area. We have two part-time vacancies in Crawley and Chichester and a full-time vacancy in Mid Sussex.

The Role

As a Service Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the smooth running of our Mid Sussex, Chichester or Crawley operations and services.

Working closely with the Development Manager, you will help oversee the administration of the building or locality. You will ensure that buildings, activities and services are well prepared, managed and delivered to a high standard.

Acting as the go-to person for the building or locality, you will answer all enquiries in a friendly, professional and efficient manner by phone and by email as well as managing any social media sites.

In addition, you will:

- Gather insights on issues or interests affecting local older people

- Develop an activity programme which reflects older peoples’ needs and wants

- Help design and deliver engaging promotional materials to market the building and/or activities

- Act as a keyholder, opening the building/venue(s) as required

About You

To join us as a Service Co-ordinator, you will need:

- An understanding of, and interest in, older people, their situations and the opportunities they may want and/or need

- An understanding of safeguarding and ability to follow policies and procedures in this and other areas

- A commitment to equality across all aspects of this role

- Excellent IT and computer skills including good working knowledge of email, Excel and Microsoft Office

- The ability to efficiently travel or work flexibly which may include different sites or locations

Experience of working or volunteering with older people would be beneficial to your application, as would experience or knowledge of building management and knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations in relation to this.

The ability to design and produce creative and effective marketing to help promote services or the centre would be advantageous, as would a full driving licence and use of a car in order to travel in the local community, as required.
