Community Base staff are entitled to maternity leave and associated benefits as defined by law and their contract of employment with Community Base. Entitlements provided by this policy in addition to those provided by law and an employee's contract of employment do not form part of an employee's terms of employment and can be amended or withdrawn by Community Base.
All non-locum employees taking maternity leave will be entitled to full pay for the first 18 weeks of their maternity leave, statutory maternity pay for the next 21 weeks and unpaid leave for the remaining period of up to 13 weeks.
Employees may work for up to 10 days during maternity leave and, insofar as it is consistent with the needs of Community Base, for an unlimited number of extra days in the period of maternity leave during which they are entitled to unpaid leave without maternity leave ending. Employees will be paid normally for any time worked during maternity leave.
During maternity leave normal terms and conditions other than pay will apply, with annual leave accruing and employer's pensions contributions being made as if the employee was working normally.
Community Base will offer flexible working hours and arrangements to staff returning to work after a pregnancy insofar as this is consistent with the needs of Community Base.
This policy will be reviewed by the board of trustees at least every calendar year.
