Policy on cover for extended staff leave
- Community Base recognises the importance of having arrangements in place for the proper running of Community Base when a staff member takes extended leave or is on sick leave for an extended period.
- When the receptionist/administrator is expected to be on leave for between one and three months the director will arrange for locum receptionist/administrators to cover the period of absence.
- When the building manager is expected to be on leave for between one and three months the director will ensure that arrangements are in place for the tasks normally carried out by the building manager to be carried out.
- When the director is expected to be on leave for between one and three months
a. The building manager will become acting director and line manage all other staff for the period of the director’s absence
b. A staff supervision group comprising the building manager, receptionist/administrator, chairperson and up to three other named trustees will meet at least every two weeks during the director’s absence to discuss issues concerning the management of Community Base
c. The building manager will take minutes of all staff supervision group meetings and table them at the next board meeting.
- This policy will be reviewed by the board of trustees at least every calendar year.
