Policy on bullying and harassment

  1. Community Base is committed to promoting an environment at Community Base that is free from all forms of bullying and harassment.

  2. Bullying can be defined in many ways but is generally behaviour that is identified as a misuse of power. It is characterised by being persistent, offensive, abusive, intimidating, malicious and insulting. Bullying makes the recipient feel upset, threatened, humiliated or vulnerable.

  3. We recognise that everyone at Community Base has a role to play in helping to create an environment in which bullying or harassment is unacceptable.

  4. If anyone considers that a member of Community Base staff is responsible for bullying or harassment they are entitled to lodge a complaint against that staff member using Community Base’s complaints procedure.

  5. If a member of Community Base staff considers that anyone is responsible for bullying or harassing them in the course of their duties they are entitled to raise the matter with their line manager or a trustee so that action can be taken to resolve the matter.

  6. This policy will be reviewed by the board of trustees at least every calendar year.
