Our photocopier

We have a photocopier with collating, stapling and other functions on our first floor landing. Any participant group can get an account to use the photocopier by contacting our director, signing an agreement and getting a four digit ID code. If you want to use coloured paper you must supply your own.

If you want to do a lot of copies of the same thing you might find it easier and cheaper to contact a commercial printer or the resource centre. If you need to use our photocopier for a large volume of photocopying please avoid weekday afternoons when the photocopier is busiest.

SOME TOP TIPS FOR USING THE PHOTOCOPIER
To start photocopying
you need to enter your four digit ID number in and press ID.

When you have finished photocopying you should press ID.

To return to default settings at any time press the yellow button with a diagonal "equals" sign.

To select a particular paper tray select the Paper Select button. This takes you to a screen with a diagram of the photocopier on the left, and a list of tray choices on the right. The default setting is Auto. When Auto is selected, no part of the photocopier diagram is highlighted blue. To select an alternative tray, select its screen button and the relevant tray will become highlighted in blue in the diagram. Select Done to return to the main screen. The option selected will be written above the Paper Select button on the main screen.

To collate a document select the Finisher button and select either pages in order (ABC ABC) or same pages together. Click OK to return to the main screen. The option/s selected will show next to the Finisher button on the main screen.

To staple a document select the Finisher button and the staple option. Remember - the staples will go on the top left hand corner of the sheets, so feed them into the copier accordingly. For example, for the sheets to be landscape, with the top left hand corner stapled, then feed them in landscape way, with the shorter side going in first. Click OK to return to the main screen. The option/s selected will show next to the Finisher button on the main screen.

To copy from or to a two sided document select the Two Sided button. You can then choose whether you have single sided or two sided originals and whether you want single or two sided copies. Select your desired option by touching the relevant button then click OK to return to the main screen. The option/s selected will show next to the Two Sided button on the main screen.

To get a good image of a photo select the Text button (above the Special Features button) to produce a drop down menu with options of Text, Text and Photo and Photo. Select whichever you need to get the best copy of your document.

To adjust the darkness/lightness of your copies touch the white or black half moons to move the marker along the scale to make your copies darker or lighter. Click on A to return to Auto.

To enlarge or reduce documents select the Copy Ratio button and either select one of the standard copy ratio buttons shown or manually input the desired percentage using the numeric keys.

If you have a problem with the photocopier - the most usual problem is a paper jam - try following the instructions the photocopier gives you to fix the fault. If you can't fix the problem, or the photocopier runs out of paper or toner, tell our receptionist who will try to sort the problem, calling out an engineer if necessary.
