Our franking machine

Our franking machine is located next to the photocopier. It allows you to post mail without leaving the building and at a cheaper rate than if you used stamps.

The Royal Mail collect the post at around 4pm. If you frank mail before the mail is collected you can leave your mail in a postbag by the franking machine and it will be collected by the Royal Mail. If you frank mail after it is collected or on a day it is not collected you should take your franked mail to the sorting office in North Road before it shuts at 7pm and put it in one of the boxes for franked mail inside the office (not the mail box outside the office).

To use the franking machine you need to sign an agreement and get an account number and four digit code. You will be billed every quarter for the cost of your postage. If you are interested in using the franking machine you should contact our director.

There is a weighing machine next to the franking machine, but it is for guidance only. It is up to you to put the right postage on letters and parcels - if you do not put enough postage on a letter or parcel the person you are posting to may be surcharged.

YOU SHOULD NEVER ATTEMPT TO PUT THICK LETTERS OR LETTERS WITH STAPLES OR PAPERCLIPS THROUGH THE FRANKING MACHINE as this can cause serious damage to the machine. There are labels next to the franking machine that you can frank and then stick on parcels, thick letters or letters with staples or paperclips.

Let us know in advance if you are doing a big mailout so we can ensure there is enough credit on the machine.
