While Community Base takes precautions to protect groups using the internet through its broadband connection, we cannot ensure complete security while you are using the internet. Here are some hints to improve your internet security - if you are unsure about internet security we strongly advise you to get professional advice from people who know about this sort of thing.
1) Always have a virus scanner like McAfee or Symantec installed and configured for automatic updates
2) Get a hardware firewall installed to protect your network from unauthorised access from other groups in Community Base and elsewhere
3) Get a personal firewall installed (like Windows XP's service pack 2) to prevent unauthorised programmes on your PC accessing the internet.
4) Keep your operating system up to date.
5) Use a spyware detection program such as Windows AntiSpyware
